This holiday celebrates the date the Jews received the Torah and one of the most common ways to enjoy the holiday is with food and desserts made of milk and honey. Why milk and honey? There is a passage in the Torah promising Israel, the “land flowing with milk and honey” (Exodus 3:8) to the Israelites. King Solomon also wrote that the Torah was like “milk and honey are under your tongue” (Song of Songs 4:11). Eretz chalav u’dvash! But why should you leave these treats to only one holiday of the year?
