Today’s wedding is just oh là là, très chic! Melissa and Travis had an interfaith wedding combining the best of her Jewish culture and his Christian heritage.
And well, the best of French bohemian chic too!
I won’t blabber because you need to see these beautiful photos and hear their story, stat.
Tell us about the wedding!
We wanted a place to get married that was special to us and different with a history. The French Legation Museum has an elegant feel with downtown flare. We first went to the French Legation Museum to see some SXSW shows in 2008 and loved the vibe of the property. We wanted our wedding to be most of all a great party and feel effortless. We wanted our guests to enjoy the entire experience and be comfortable to hang out on the vintage furniture and dance to great music with us.
As most of our family and friends were coming in from out of town (lots from New York) we wanted the whole experience to radiate what we consider Austin to be about. The ribbons were a DIY project that was inspired by a chuppah I saw on the web. I loved how it ended up adding some visual spark to our intimate ceremony (only family) before the reception and I loved that I was able an interesting, handmade piece of art.
I loved the vintage French romantic vibe of the night and wanted to have touches of that in everything from the centerpieces to the food and the venue.
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
French bohemian yet romantic.
What was the hardest part about wedding planning?
All of the details! There are so many!!!
Did you do any DIY (do it yourself) or special projects/things at the wedding?
I made three, 6 ft ribbon sticks. They were to symbolize a Chupa but it was open at the top where a typical Chupa is closed.
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
Our first dance. It was do sweet and romantic. It felt like we were the only people in the room.
Thank you for sharing your wedding with us! We wish you both the best in life.
